SITWELL FAMILY [well-known military family].

The Special Service Corps, No. 3 Section, in December 1895, at a British barracks just before its departure on the Ashanti expedition [with] Captain Sitwell and military colleagues posing on a hunt in October 1895.

Two original photographs, albumen (regiment) and gelatin silver (hunt). Mounted back to back on a stiff album leaf. Size: photos 22.2cm x 13cm and 20.8cm x 15.2cm respectively. Condition: the regimental photo is rather faded, but still strong on detail. The hunt photo retains strong tones. The mount is rather foxed and is slightly curved. More details can be provided on request, but in the first instance please study the gallery images.

A pair of photographs from a Sitwell family album, one showing Capt. Sitwell with his regiment prior to its departure on the Ashanti expedition in December 1895, and one of him with military chums at a hunt a couple of months previously.
