Back in the day, stores like Newberry's and G.C. Murphy used to have square display tables full of folded fabric remnants for sale. The fabrics were mill ends-- leftovers from American clothing factories.

It was a different world.

Two of these remnants are from G.C. Murphy; the other doesn't have a store name on the tag. Based on the prices, I'm thinking they date from the 1960s to the early 1970s, before double digit inflation set in.

The pieces are slightly dusty; I haven't washed them because I didn't want to disturb their "as found" quality. Other than that, to all appearances they might have been bought at the five-and-dime yesterday. There is no fading or damage that I can see, except for the few marks on selvage noted below.

The pieces are as follows:

Pink denim-like fabric-- denim, drill cloth, or twill. Some two-way stretch to it. (It stretches width-wise but not lengthwise. I wouldn't call it a stretch fabric per se, but there's definitely some stretch.) One side is a bright pink and the other a soft pink. This is a heavy fabric. In the selvage there are a couple black marks and a small brown mark; these are probably from the factory and don't affect the main fabric.

Although the label says 1 7/8 yards, I found this piece to be longer than that: 2 yards 1 inch long, and 52" wide.

I calculate the weight to be 12.5 oz/sq yd, a very heavy fabric.

White cotton shirting with a green grid like graph-paper. Lightweight fabric.
The label says 3 yards; I found that measurement to be accurate, and the width 44". I calculate the weight to be 3 oz sq/yd.

Green cotton duck cloth. (Cotton duck is similar to canvas, but lighter.)  Unlike the other two, this piece has no store name on the price tag. Label say 1 yard. I found this to be approximately accurate, with the width approximately 44". I wasn't able to get the cloth fully unfolded because of the label, which goes through more than one layer and which I didn't want to disturb. I calculate the weight to be 6 oz sq/yd.

This package will be heavy, because of the pink fabric.

Always happy to combine shipping.
