ROYAL COPENHAGEN ANNUAL MUG 1982, SMALL

Description

Royal Copenhagen, “Den Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik”, was founded way back in 1775 under the patronage of the Royal House of Denmark. It is one of the oldest porcelain factories in the world, still in business today. The tradition of the Christmas Plate began in 1908 with the “Mary and Child” Plate, created by the artist Christian Thomsen. Since then, year after year, Royal Copenhagen has created a new Christmas Plate which has now become a firm Christmas tradition in homes all over the world.

Every year since 1967, Royal Copenhagen has produced two cups, one large and one small, decorated with the same design. This listing presents the small mug from 1982, designed by Inge-Lise Koefoed.

The cup is produced in limited quantities and production ends at the end of the year with the destruction of the original shape, which therefore makes reproduction impossible.

To guarantee authenticity, the cup bears the Royal Copenhagen mark, the Crown above the three wavy lines, and the painter's initials.

The cup measures cm. 8 in height and cm. 7 in diameter.
