I think if I owned this tray back in the early 1900s, I would not use it as a TRAY. I would hang it on the wall somehow. Maybe that's what someone did, because it looks so ununsed. This image was used often on Victorian Art Plates, and this is only slightly bigger than one of those.
I took photos of it under the same light without changing the light at all. I guess when I got closer, it washed out the color. And it sure does look BRIGHT when you see the whole thing. But it is bright. I didn't use any filters. This is what this tray looks like. It's fabulous & quite old.
