Designer or Brand: Unknown

Style: Vintage Wood Dry Cleaners Hangar

Item bears the following inscription:  "Lungstras Dyeing and Cleaning Co."  "Boil-O Gasolyn"

Eugene Lungstras, originally from Germany and first settled in Sedalia, MO, moved to St. Louis in 1871 and started a dyeing and dry cleaning business.  He rapidly rose to become the largest dry cleaner in the city, and one of the largest businesses of its kind in the US at the time.  His business was still going into the 1920s.

While we do not know the exact age of the hangar, we do know that gasoline in any form has not been used in commercial dry cleaning in the US since the 1930s.

Condition: Item clearly shows signs of age, use, and wear.
