FRENCH INDOCHINE -

Rare collection of five original glass stereoviews of tank testing in French Indochina (Vietnam), World War 1-era, circa 1918-20.

A total of 5 vintage glass stereoviews. Dating from circa 1910-15. Size: 11cm x 4.7cm. Original glassine sleeves.

Good condition. A few very small chips to edges of a couple of slides, but the main glass sections and image areas entirely unaffected. Varying tones. Minor spotting, finger marking and other small blemishes within the negative (but generally not on the glass itself). Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, and view gallery images closely.

These recently discovered glass steroeviews of tank testing in French Indochine shed light on an almost entirely undocumented part of WW1 history. Little to nothing is known of the development of the tank in this part of the world.

Glass stereoviews of Indochine are rare.

The advantage of glass in this format of photography is that it provides extra luminosity through the viewer, which in turn heightens the three-dimensional effect. Highly immersive.
