Buffalo Bill, Wild West, Annie Oakley paper scrap toy set of 42 figures circa 1890.
These came to me as part of a collection about 40 years ago.
They are very similar to a set currently described and illustrated online by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. The description of that set is as follows from their website--Hand-cut paper toy printed with an illustration of the Deadwood stagecoach, part of a child's play set of chromolithograph cutout toys representing characters from the Buffalo Bill Wild West show. Figures in the 41-piece set include William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, trick riders, American Indian performers, steer, buffaloes, bulls, horses, and the stagecoach. Produced on a set of sheets by McLoughlin Brothers, publishers of children’s books and board games, the cards were cut out and mounted on wooden bases. They could be arranged to re-create two well-known acts from Cody’s enormously popular production. One group of figures enacts “The Capture of the Deadwood Mail,” a gunfight over a stagecoach between mounted Native Americans and cowboys. The other group displays the show’s buffalo hunt.
The set here for sale is very similar but the images are different.
Sizes of the figures are variable, the teepees are 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 in., the stagecoach is 12 x 4 in., the mounted figures on horseback are on average 2 1/2 x 4 inches.
There are a few reinforcements done well to the reverses as shown in the scans, a few light creases to the teepess but overall they are in very nice condition and have been stored safely.

I have been a collector of Raphael Tuck cards, and ephemera on eBay for almost 20 years and am now selling items that I no longer need. I also manage the reference collection for the TuckDB and TuckDBephemera listing websites. Many thanks for looking, Alison
