(transl.: Images of the first century of Jesuits presented by the German-Netherlands Province of said Society.), by Jean Bollandus ao., published by Plantijn/Plantin, Antwerp, 1640. This work was translated by Laurentius Uwens from the latin ed., published in the same year: 'Imago primi saeculi societatis Iesu ...' The famous centennial publication of the Low Countries Jesuits, containing beautiful emblematic engravings.

Subject: Antique emblem print, page 264, captioned: Omnes sitientes venite ad aquas, venite, emite absque argento, & absque ulla commutatione (Every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, O come ye, buy without money, and without any price). It shows: a three-tiered fountain spouting water. It signifies that like a fountain that provides its water free, a Jesuit must be prepared to aid those in need without expecting a return. This emblem is set within an ornamental border.
Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning. Please study scan carefully.
