For
the follow up to their sold-out 2022 album
‘Stylophonik’, also on
Spun Out Of Control, inspired student and
tutor collective Kingston
University Stylophone Orchestra return to
the campus’ Visconti
Studio to lay down a collection of
contemporary synth and electro pop
classics – live to analogue tape.
Live
To Tape At
Visconti Studio mixes
contemporary
covers such as Brian Eno’s Who Gives A
Thought, with
bygone era bangers including Kraftwerk’s The
Robots, David Bowie’s
Space Oddity and Tubeway Army’s Are
‘Friends’ Electric?
It
even nods to the world of sci-fi film &
TV soundtracks with
pocket synth-infused interpretations of
Blade Runner’s End Titles
and the Doctor Who Theme, with accomplished
all-new arrangements by
Stylophone Orchestra leader Leah Kardos.
An
experience that puts the listener in the
room with the performers and
a small invited audience as they’re
recording, this release is the
Orchestra at their most immediate and
accessible.
Released
on Spun
Out Of Control as a choice of two limited
cassette tapes – choose
from Synth Cape Purple or a bubblegum blue
and pink split
‘Stylophonik’ shell – the artwork for Live
