Very lovely folk style wall cabinet, originating from Denmark with hand carved relief patterning, and carved dated 1783.

Made from sculpted oak, and with a good patina, with a single door held by a primitive hinge, and with a single interior middle shelf, and also use of the interior base.

It has wide intricate patterning at either side of the door with a scroll design. The door has a rounded pattern that resembles a Norman doorway, with a marquetry star form at its center.

Above and below are nicely carved rose motifs with the date in italic roman font.

With a waxed finish and with a good primitive lock and key, that is a more recent restoration.

This is a really nice cupboard for anywhere in the house, with loads of beautiful artisan workmanship and also a charming country simplicity.

It has certain ecclesiastical touches, but perhaps its original provenance is a country Danish home.
