This Toshiba model 9TM40 nicknamed the "Robot" because of its shape, has by all appearances never been used. It comes complete with box, radio, leather case, an unopened plastic pack of 3 Toshiba Penlite batteries, an unopened plastic pack of 2 Toshiba Penlite batteries (it uses 5 total), an unopened earphone jack, a microphone, instruction pamphlet, registration card and 2 small, printed badge items. Everything that would have originally come in the box appears to be here and is in new condition as can be seen in the photos.

The microphone seems to be a novel feature. The instruction pamphlet explains that it can plugged into the "MIKE" jack and the radio used as a public address system at sales meeting or in a public hall. Or, by hanging the microphone on a baby crib and adding an extension cable, it becomes a "Baby Tender" over which any crying or disturbance can be heard from another room.

The box is worn on the outside and the small fabric strap that functions as a lid support has, after 62 years, fallen apart. This is shown in photos as well.
