A solid cast bronze alloy figure, this wonderful piece depicts Lakshmi, the Shakti, Vishnu's wife. She symbolises the prosperity, wealth and the fertility she spreads to the world.

Lakshmi takes many forms and postures, but represented here is the form of Dipa or Deepa Lakshmi which is used as an object of worship. Lakshmi embodies beauty, fulness, and is a resplendent, fulfilled form.

This statue has a standing pose, in the so-called Samabhanga posture (without bending), which stands like a pillar and expresses solidity and righteousness. Her hands hold a basin or oil cup. This sculpture is usually placed next to the deity that is honoured: the basin, filled with oil and a wick, provides the light that dissipates the darkness. She is rendered standing on a pedestal as the gods never touch the ground.

This 18th-19th century example is shown next to a life size skull for scale, and is one of a collection from the same household (final image). We have both an 8cm and a 10cm Lakshmi example, offered separately.

I am happy to combine UK postage but sadly CANNOT combine postage for overseas sales through eBay's Global Shipping Programme as Ebay control these prices and terms.

Collection:

If you’re able, collection is very welcome from Ware/Datchworth/Sawbridgeworth all in Hertfordshire (home/warehouse/shop- the location depends on the item), weekdays/weekends by mutual agreement.

Courier services:

I'm happy to work with your own courier IF THEY CAN SPECIFY A TIME WINDOW ON THE DAY OF COLLECTION.

Alternatively, we have a pool of regular non-affiliated couriers who offer an excellent service and can quote for you. Please message us through eBay if you'd like a quote for delivery. If you go ahead with any courier quotes, we will book the shipment in for you but you will need to make the final arrangements for drop off and payment for delivery directly with the courier you opt for.
