Here is a glossy creamy-white ceramic ashtray made in Bavaria by Porzellanfabrik Thomas,  a porcelain factory run as an independent subsidiary of Rosenthal.  It measures 5.5" square with 1" high wavy sides and metallic gold edging.  

There is a cig rest on each of the four corners.  The flat center has gold designs and lettering advertising the German brandy company of Asbach Uralt.  Below the company name is "Im Asbach-Uralt-ift der Geift des Weisnes" which roughly translate to something about the spirit of wisdom.

Condition is very good with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is light wear to the gold edging and letters.  

The backstamp with "R" logo reads "Thomas, Marktredwitz Germany".  This mark was used between 1953 and 1960.
