Sowing Seeds: Indoors January to April and Outdoors May to August
Sow Indoors
Late January to April in 9cm pots or cell trays using a good, moist seed compost. The seeds need light to germinate so only cover the seeds with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Germination usually takes 14-28 days and a temperature of 15-20c is required. Keep soil moist but not soaked. If using seed trays transplant into 9cm pots when seedlings are large enough to handle. In May when all danger of frost has passed, acclimatise plants to outdoor temperatures before planting outside. Remember to protect plants from late frost with garden fleece. Seeds planted early will flower in their first year. Space plants 20cm apart.
Sow Outdoors May to August for flowering next year. Sow seeds thinly in a prepared seed bed. Cover very lightly with soil and firm down. Water lightly. When plants are large enough to handle they can be thinned and spaced 20cm apart.
Seeds are packed in gripseal/manilla packets and sent in a protective padded envelope by 1st Class Post, with growing  instructions.
