This is a delicious, very sweet cucumber that is usually picked small and does not need peeling as the skin is very tender. Originating from the Mediterranean, this variety produces prolific crops of sweet, baby cucumbers, they are both thin skinned and extremely sweet for fresh use in salads. Best grown under glass and harvested when 10-15cm long for the sweetest flavour. For an early crop sow under glass February to May.
Sowing: Indoors February to Early May
Sow indoors February to early May and grow in a greenhouse, coldframe, polytunnel or growhouse - for best results and an early crop. Sow 0.5cm deep with the seed on edge in 9cm pots or module cell tray, using a good seed compost. Water lightly and place in a warm position (20-25c). Cover with glass or clingfilm if necessary. Germination takes approx 7-14 days depending on the temperature. Keep moist but not soaked. Important - remove cover when seedlings appear. When plants have 3 or 4 leaves, transplant to 12cm pots and grow on in cooler (approx 15c), but NOT cold conditions. When the plants are a good size they can be planted in the greenhouse border or very large pots/containers. Spacing is 60cm apart. Provide support - train plants up canes, strings, wires or other support. Keep watered, but not soaked. Harvest cucumbers July to October/first frost.
Enjoy your harvest of healthy, home grown cucumbers.
Seeds will be packed in manilla/grip seal packets and posted 1st Class Post in a protective padded envelope, with growing instructions.
