Why Purchase a Dash Cover? First and foremost, a dash cover provides protection from sunlight, heat and dust. Sunlight Sunlight constantly works against your dash. Heat Heat can cause your dash to buckle. Dust Dust and dirt regularly collect on your dash surface. Custom Dash Covers are constructed using a "zigzag" stitch. The zigzag stitch takes more time and is more expensive, but the results are worth the added expense the stitch acts as a hinge, allowing the cover to contour to the surface of the dashboard. These Dash covers are designed to provide you with many years of enjoyment and protection for your automobile!
A Few More Example Photos:
Q: What exactly is a "Dash Cover"?These dash covers are designed to sit on top of the dash to cover it. They protect the dash from cracking, reduce heat build up and cover up cracks if your dash already has them. Our dash covers come in many fabrics and colors. We do not make PLASTIC dash caps. We do not offer replacement dashboards nor original dashboard repair. Q: What materials do you offer?Every dash cover is cut and sewn. Material choices include upholstery grade fabrics in a 3 part lamination with foam cores as well as non-woven plush carpet. We don't offer "heat molded" products or plastic molded dash caps.
Q: What about fit to my vehicle's dash? Our supplies makes all the dash covers from their own patterns. They we do it by working directly on each vehicle model including models that have options that effect the dash. Their design philosophy is to fit the dash geometry with the best look possible and make sure the coverage is proper for a rich look. Design is part science and part art. They take into account for all the vents, sensors, gauges, displays, options like larger screens for NAV's, etc. They do not design the patterns to cut corners on material or labor. We strive to offer the best looking, best fitting Dash Cover for each vehicle.
Q: How does the Dash Cover attach?Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners hook strips come with each dash cover. They have an adhesive backing. With all Carpet colors, they sew in many small squares of Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners loop because the hook does not stick well the the back side of the carpet. With all fabric Dash Covers that have foam in the middle layer, the back side fabric acts like Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners Loop so no small loop squares are sew in. Just stick the hook anywhere. Also, the forward edge of the Dash Cover may need to be tucked into the space between the dash and windshield glass. This anchors the Dash Cover and holds it in place even with the defrost fan on max. Using the supplied Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners is optional. Some people prefer not to use it. Some dashes have complicated geometry and a dash cover will not stay without it. We provide it - you decide if you want to use it. The adhesive will not harm your dash. However, it may not stick properly if your dash has been treated with a detailing product like Armor All. Use cleaning alcohol to clean areas of your dash where you want Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners.
Q: When will my Dash Cover Ship and How long will it take to get to me? These Dash Covers are made Monday through Thursday every week. Once we have received your order and your vehicle information and options, your order is sent directly to the factory to be made. Our basic shipping is USPS Priority Mail - it will take between 1 and 3 days to get to you almost anywhere in the US. They factory does not consolidate orders over a week or two for manufacturing planning nor do they have them made in another country like some other Dash Cover companies! Q: What about AirBags - will the dash cover have a cutout, do I need a cutout, can I specify not to have an airbag cutout? Starting in the early 1990's and depending on your Make/Model and option package, your vehicle may have an Airbag built into the dash on the Passenger side. Many vehicles have a visible Airbag panel. When airbags first arrived on the scene it was thought that dash covers needed to have a cut out around this panel for the airbag to deploy. Many of our older patterns have such a cutout. But many patterns do not because the panel is either close to the edge or there is no visible panel. In more recent vehicles, there is no visible panel to cut out for. The airbag literally blows through the dash and pushes everything out of the way when it deploys. We now know dash covers do not inhibit air bag deployment with or without cutouts. We see requests to eliminate the airbag cutout with older patterns because people prefer the clean look without a flap. You can request this with your order. The Airbag will deploy whether or not there is a cutout. If you don't want the cut out, send a message right away when you order so we see it before the fabric is cut at the factory - thank you. Q: What about Speakers in the Dash? We do not make cutouts for speakers. We feel this would defeat the purpose of the dashcover to protect the dash. Sound will travel through the dashcover material quite well so no cutout is needed. Trust us on this - leave them covered. Q: What if my vehicle has sensors on the dash for Automatic Headlights or Automatic Climate Control? When possible, we make our design to include the sensor cutout within a vent cutout so the "cut" is automatic. That way you don't need to know if you have a sensor or if you need to specify you need it cut. Typically, sensors are small and round, about 1" diameter. Sometimes they are not positioned in a vent, then a separate cut must be made. Sometimes every vehicle made for a model has a sensor - in other words it is not an option but a standard feature. Most of the time it's an option and your vehicle may or may not need to have it cut. If the sensor is separate, we always mark it's position on the bottom side. We do not cut unless we know it is for 100% of the vehicles of that model or if you tell us you have a sensor that needs to be cut. FYI, the cuts are so small that no edge binding is sewn there. Q: How can I get custom embroidery on the Dash Cover? Some purchasers want a custom design, art, names or letters embroidered on their Dash Cover. We don't offer that service but you can take it to your local embroidery shop after you receive it. That way you can see the Dash Cover installed on your dash before it's embroidered so you can decide exactly what you want and where you want it. Tape a piece of paper with what you want in the right spot and take it to an embroidery shop where you live! Ordering is a simple process! Install is easy! – Please follow instructions below: ! Handling: Never fold the dashcover! Always re-roll carefully for storage. Don’t put heavy objects on the Dash Cover, as they can leave permanent marks or indentations! Installing: 1. Clean your dash before installing. Use provided alcohol pad to clean area where Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners will be applied. 2. Place Dash Cover on the dash making sure vents and other features line up, use hands to form to contours. 3. IMPORTANT! Push Dash Cover edge into the gap between the windshield glass and the dash. 4. Cut provided Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners strips into small pieces and match them to the sewn Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners on back side of Carpet dashcovers or anywhere desired on back side of Velour, Suede, DashTech & Camo Dash Covers. DO NOT REMOVE backing on adhesive until you are sure the dashcover is located exactly how you want it to be. 5. Pull the backing off the Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners adhesive in one area at a time. Start at one of the edges near the windshield and work across to the other side. It is very important to clean the spot on the dash where the Hook-and-loop fasteners / Hook-and-pile fasteners will be applied. 6. Your new Dash Cover will form to the dash over time and with the heat generated by sun through the windshield. This can take several days or weeks depending on weather conditions Sensors: many vehicles have sensors on the dash. Their location varies widely by make, model and trim level. On some vehicles, the sensor is incorporated into the windshield vent and no extra cutting is required. In other cases, a sensor may be an option (not on all vehicles of a model). In these cases, your Dash Cover will be marked with the sensor location on the back side but will not be cut unless requested at time of ordering. Typically, sensor holes are too small to have sewn binding edges. Speakers: Sound passes through the dashcover quite well so no cutouts are made. Speaker cutouts can be requested on some models when ordering (added cost) but this is not recommended for best dash protection. Defrosting Vents: Make sure to fasten the dashcover well around vents. Make a test with fan on full to see if it is secure. Depending on the model, the Dash Cover design may extend over the edges of vents. This will help protect the vent walls from developing cracks. Cleaning your dashcover: Hand wash with mild detergent in cold water. Air dry. ABOUT AUTONOTIONS:
