Fabulous, very rare cup in glazed and glazed ceramic, entirely hand-decorated, made by the very important Faenza manufacture of the Minardi Brothers.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
The ceramics made by Fratelli minardi boast numerous and important auction results, some of which, and certainly not the highest, have been shown in the last photos after the historical notes and the various brands used, just to give you an idea of the importance of this manufacture.
Information on artist and/or manufacturer:
This important manufacture was born in 1899 in Faenza and boasts the collaboration of many of the most famous potters of the time and numerous auction results. In 1922 it was taken over by Umberto Focaccia and Pietro Melandri, who already worked in the factory, and from that moment an S was added to the ceramics marked by the MF of the Minardi Brothers, similar to that of the Melandri Focaccia manufacture, to distinguish them. Well, our cup has this S and can therefore be attributed to the period of Melandri and Focaccia, when, as you can read from the historical notes of this manufacture shown in the photo at the bottom, in this factory, which was also annexed to a pottery school, the greatest talents of Italian ceramics of the time worked, such as, in addition to the aforementioned Melandri and Focaccia, also Alfredo Biagini, Achille Wildi, Francesco Nonni, Riccardo Gatti, etc.
