About Honey magazine:

Honey magazine was launched amid a fanfare of publicity by Fleetway publications in April 1960  targeting the newly established market of ‘teens and twenties’. It quickly built a stable circulation and became synonymous with a fashionable  and ‘get-ahead’ femininity.

Pitched as a ‘glamour’ magazine, Honey targeted affluent  and aspirational teenage consumers offering them an editorial rich in fashion and  beauty  features together with  careers  and relationship advice  for the ‘single girl’ alongside  contemporary fiction.

The magazine was pivotal in establishing a   new  and distinctive format of accessible fashion magazines for young women. It was also  the site for the circulation of particular commercial constructions of aestheticized youthful femininity, encapsulated  in the invitation to get the  ‘Honey look’ within the magazine’s pages.
