Trompe l’oeil painting of arched cabinet shelves on arched wood panel with an instant collection of antiques. Included in the painting are an extinct Victorian era red and off white conch type shell under an oval glass cloche, a butterfly specimen under a glass cloche, a cinnabar Asian perfume bottle under a glass cloche, and a barnacle coral under a glass cloche. Also included in the painting is a Victorian memento moire ring with the portrait of an eye, a miniature hanging pocket knife, and Victorian era face skeleton key with fob tassel. The idea behind this trompe L’oeil painting was to give the illusion of a shallow cabinet full of unusual items in an extraordinary collection gathered over generations, but with this painting there would be no dusting or insurance needed to have this “collection”!

The “glass” cloches are over painted with high gloss for the extra illusion of the items being under real glass. 24.5” x 14.5”
