Michael Jenkins (1) served in this company as a private during the British invasion of Baltimore. He fought in the battle of North Point Sept. 12, 1814, in Capt. George H. Steuart's  (1790-1867) Co. of "Washington Blues", 5th Maryland Militia, under command of Lt. Col. Joseph Sterett (1773-1821). The British sailed to Fort McHenry where they made their unsuccessful attack on Sept. 13th.

 Provenance: Descended through the family of Francis Forster who served at the battle of  North Point as a Lt. in Capt. Steuart's company "Washington Blues". After Capt. Steuart's wounding at this battle Forster was raised to the rank of Capt. in this company. He continued to serve for many years in the Maryland Militia. Capt. Steuart eventually became a general in the Maryland Militia, and was the father of  Gen. George Hume "Maryland" Steuart, C.S.A.
