Vintage Grand Tour souvenir monument of the Lion of Venice, also called the Lion of St. Mark, an ancient bronze statue of a winged lion that stands atop a massive granite column in San Mark's Plaza in Venice, Italy.

This magnificent winged Lion is cast in brass with very good sculptural detail. The Lion is depicted with both paws resting on an open book inscribed "PAX TIBI MARCE EVANGELISTA MEUS" meaning "Peace be with you, Mark, my evangelist". It's mounted to a heavy brass rectangular base with decorative motifs on all sides. 

This Lion of St. Mark measures 3.5" tall by 6.5" wide by 2.5" deep, and weighs 1.5 lbs.
