18 pt Letterpress Quads – 370 QUADS/SPACERS ONLY – Multiple sizes

SHIPPING NOTE: We are happy to combine shipping whenever possible if you purchase multiple items from us!!  Put all of the different items in your cart BEFORE paying, and then "request total" from seller - this should be at the top right when you are in your cart before you click on go to checkout.  We will combine shipping (if we are able to put everything in the same box) and we will send you an invoice with the correct amount.  This way you don't overpay, and we don't have to hassle with refunding your overpaid shipping.  If we cannot combine the shipping (if the items will not fit in one box), we will let you know when we send the invoice. 

RETURN NOTE ON TYPE SETS: If a set is opened and rearranged in any way, we will not accept a return or exchange.  If you are missing or want to replace something from the set, let us know so we can review the photos and get you what you need. You should be able to un-tape just the top cardboard so you can see the complete set without risking anything falling out or apart.  Anything rearranged or changed is not eligible for return.  If you do need to return a set for any reason, you MUST package it well and tape it very well or it will fall apart in shipment. If it is returned to us not exactly the same as you received it, eBay will void your return. 

18pt Quads: For the purpose of this listing, we have MULTIPLE sizes for a total of 370 quads/spacers (there may or may not be brass or coppers – please review photos). The nick locations are in various positions (some have no nick), so they are not from the same set, and some may have slight variations in thickness and height.  We believe they are from different typefaces, foundry, or even a different country of manufacture, but they all fit the 24pt lettering we are using.  This block measures approximately 2.75 x 4” and weighs over 2.7 lbs (after being taped into cardboard), so is best shipped in a small flat rate box.    

We understand that we may be identifying some of these incorrectly, but we are doing our best.  An experienced typesetter should be able to see through our foolishness and understand what is listed from the photos. The journey to research, identify and describe these quads has been quite a rabbit hole, so there is a chance we could be slightly off with our measurements or exact descriptions and count.  Please make your decision based off the photos of the set.  

Please see photos for condition, these were all used previously so there may be flaws, ink, corrosion, or other imperfections.  Please be aware that working with this many very tiny items we can make mistakes, there may be one off here or there, but we are doing our best!  We will be listing multiple sets, some will have less of certain items as we run low so be sure to look at ALL of the photos for the set information in each listing. 

All of the quads/spacers in this listing come from the printing press that was originally located at Redwood High School in Larkspur, California.  We are unsure how many decades the high school had this press or the type, but we believe it dates back to the early 1900s.  Our father purchased the press, the cabinets, the drawers and the type in the 1970s and it has been sitting in storage for over 50 years.  

We are slowly separating out sets for sale. Please see photos for closer details and overall condition.   We will list details as accurately as possible, but things can be missed so ask questions before buying if you have any.  While our items are described as accurately as possible, they are always sold as-is.  PLEASE ask questions - we are happy to provide additional information/photos upon request.

We use the USPS to calculate shipping and will combine shipping whenever possible.  We are NOT responsible for the amount of time USPS takes to deliver your item once it has been received into their system.  We add minimal handling charges to our items.  You will receive notification of shipment with tracking information directly from eBay. 

Items purchased on Friday may not be shipped until Monday.  While we do ship on SOME Saturdays, shipments are generally processed Monday through Friday during regular business hours. 

If payment is not received within 3 days an automatic unpaid item case will be opened on eBay.  If you need additional time to pay for an item, please request this BEFORE you place a bid.
