Welcome to "Dallas Valley Discoveries".

This listing is for a lovely vintage men's Jean Cardot, manual winding watch, in working condition. The watch has a 34 mm case and 18 mm lug distance. The case back has a screw back closure. The watch is attached to a one-piece expandable band. The band is in excellent condition. The watch has 17 jewels. It's electronically timed, according to the dial. The word "Durable" is also printed on the dial. The back of the watch reads "Tropicalized, Stainless Steel Back, Base Metal Bezel, and Diamond Tooled. There is a scuba diver on the case back. The watch has a silver dial with a brushed finish. The dial looks really good. The crystal has a number of scuffs and scrapes on its surface. It's not really excessive considering the watch's age, but it does show that the watch has received a lot of wear over its years. That's the point of a good, reliable, watch, though, so... The watch has silver numbers and gold hands. The hands also have a glow in the dark enamel on them. The second hand is red. The case is silver in color, and like the crystal, shows a bit of wear. Again, not excessive for its age, but indicative of a well-loved watch. There is wear to the silver finish of the case, especially on the back around the edges of the screw back closure, which is to be expected since this is wear the case rubs against the case back. The silver finish on the crown is all but worn away. This also is to be expected of a well-loved, vintage, manual winding watch. The front surface of the case has some mild scuffs and surface abrasion, but the bezel overall looks pretty good, apart from needing a thorough cleaning within the crevices around the crystal and in between the lugs. I did some cleaning of it, however, some of the pictures were taken before I did this, and some after. The new owner will want to be more through than I.  I'm not entirely sure of the age of the watch. Dress styles of watches changed so little between the 1960s and early 80s that it's really hard to determine based on style alone. This particular brand also seems to vary a lot in terms of value. I've found $30 sells up to $130 sells. From what I gather, Jean Cardot was a name brand purchased, or created, to sell Soviet made watches within U.S.A, at least that's what I have gathered from my research.
I've taken pictures of the movement so collectors can determine if's a Soviet made movement. My understanding is that there is a collectors' market for Soviet made watches.

The watch is running at the time of listing, however, I have not tested it's time keeping accuracy. I can make no guarantees about its future working condition as I know nothing of its previous history or when it was last serviced.  It does wind easily and run consistently. I'm including a video of it running in the listing, and I have an additional video of the movement ticking that I can send to interested buyers upon request, as eBay only allows me to upload one video per listing. As a vintage item, the new owner should anticipate the cost of having the watch serviced to guarantee its future working condition, as this is a 40 - 60+ year old timepiece. You are buying the watch AS IS.  After purchase, before shipping, I will check the watch again and take a second video of it running as proof of its working condition at the time of purchase, in which I will include the date the video is taken. If I discover the watch has stopped working, I will contact the buyer so he or she may reconsider the purchase and either renegotiate a price or cancel the sell all together. If the watch is running, I'll video the watch as proof, and proceed with shipping. Once the watch leaves my possession at the post office, the sell is final.

This watch will make a great addition to one's vintage watch collection. Pictures are to be considered as part of the description. Please review the images for a better idea of condition, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Shipping will be $4.50 USPS insured first class, and i would be more than willing to combine shipping.

I don't offer a return policy, but... i will stand behind my listings. if i make a mistake on my listing, or i misunderstand an item or miss a relevant flaw on the items listed, i will do ANYTHING in my power to make things right for the buyer, so bid with confidence.
