On January 13, 2024, the National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska" will start the sale of new "zero euro" collector notes with the image of the architectural landmark of the 11th century - the Golden Gate.

 

This is a souvenir banknote, the issue of which was launched in 2015 by the French businessman Richard Faille. The idea of ​​issuing a "zero euro" banknote was supported by the National Bank of France with the consent of the European Central Bank (ECB). The main philosophy of the project is to support tourism, popularize the most important cultural and historical monuments, as well as promote the preservation and material provision of European cultural heritage.

 

The notes have the appearance of a real euro and are made using the same technology used in real euro banknotes (contains a watermark, microprint, counterprint, hologram, UV protection elements, has a touch zone for people with visual impairments and other elements of paper euros).

 

Souvenir notes caused a real stir among collectors, and their price sometimes rose from €1.5 to €900. In 2019, almost 400 types of such souvenir vouchers appeared in the world in just half a year. Given that the notes are issued in a limited, numbered and precisely cataloged circulation, experts predict a constant increase in their price some time after the end of the sale.

 

So, now, when Ukraine strives for unification with Europe and popularizes its centuries-old history and culture in the world, such a limited collection of euro banknotes with a denomination of 0 with the image of the Golden Gate, which is one of the most magnificent monuments of the Ukrainian people, was produced in France. In the 13th century, these walls were one of the bastions that stood in the way of the Mongol-Tatar invasion, thereby protecting European countries from it. It is noteworthy that this euro banknote came out shortly after the note on the topic of achieving peace in Ukraine appeared.
