** RARE ALBUM OF PHOTOGRAPHS, SEVERAL OF WHICH SHOW DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS FOLLOWING A NIGHT OF BOMBING DURING THE BLITZ IN WORLD WAR II -

'Commemorating - 10th May 1941'.

Vintage album, containing 12 large original gelatin silver photographs. The album is leatherette with gilt lettering and decoration (of a bomb exploding) on the upper cover. There is a printed title page, followed by photographs mounted back to back on thick card leeaves. These are numbered on the mounts in manuscript in black ink '1-12'. Printed index on reverse of flap at the rear which gives a decription of the photos. Size: album - approx. 32.7cm x 23.8cm / photographs - approx. 24.2cm x 19cm (or slightly smaller or larger).

Condition: photographs in good overall condition, with minor silvering to some of the edges. Light waviness to card leaves. A few inconsequential and minor marks to boards. Contents complete and no leaves have been removed.

This photograph album seems to be genuinely rare. A laid in note by a previous owner states that the only other copy they could find is located in Christchurch, New Zealand, although our research shows that the National Trust also shows a copy at Wightwick Manor in the West Midlands.
