This first part of the description features a list of Images i.e. prints from engravings, sketches, drawings etc (these sometimes have descriptive articles but not always). They include:

The Autumn Campaign A Reserve Outlying Picket - full front page (there is a tear only affecting the border only of this front page).

The Last Load - a double page tinted illustration of a harvest scene by unknown artist, there is a signature which of course could be the engraver but looks like E. N. Dowoord - the text says "Bloomfield has left us a picture of harvest home in Suffolk"(there is a letter A which has been hand marked in the sky, it has faded but is still visible.

Two pages devoted to the Autumn campaign the 1st with 2 half page illustrations entitled: Cavalry Watering Horses at the River Stour, Witley - The Forge, Army service Corps.

The 2nd page has 6 illustrations of the southern camp, individually entitled at the foot of the page and they are: - Engineers Pump and Filters Tarrant Monkton - Tanks in Racecourse Camp - Flag Telegraph Drill, 88th Regiment - Miss Kitchen, 95th Regiment - Issuing Bread Rations - travelling Post Office.


Arrival of the Express Train at York: Ten Minutes for Refreshment - double page illustration from a drawing by M. W. Ridley (an interior view of the refreshment room at York Railway Station).

Inverness - a full-page view of the town from heights above the River. c.keenlyside.

A full-page devoted to "Sketches at Margate", consisting miel of eight sketches, not all titled, as follows: - under the cliffs - on the Fort - on the sands - on the jetty - a day at the seaside - something like a bath (not sure of the artist but the stylised initials could possibly be either a Forestier or Harry Fenn).

Full page with two half page illustrations on the autumn campaign entitled: Arrival of the Oxford University Volunteers in the Southern Camp on Saturday - Arrival of the Volunteers the London Scottish Breaking off to Their Tents.

A further page devoted to the autumn campaign, with 2 half page illustrations entitled: - engagement near Witchhampton, 2nd Division of the Southern Army Advancing from Cranborne - Divine Service in the Race down Camp, Blandford.

Count Sclopis, President of the Geneva Court of Arbitration - large half page portrait by R and E Taylor.

Scene of the Fire at Kentish Town Station - near half page.

CONDITION /DIMENSIONS

The four digit number in brackets in title is for my ref only. Fourteen pages (28sides incl blank backed supplement)  It measures 400 x 295 mm (15.75 x 11.5 inches).The spine is loose with binding witness marks where once bound, some pages are loose. There is some age yellowing with some spotting. The images are in black and white unless otherwise stated. Some of the pages may be loose, and have minor cuts tears and blemishes due to their great age - anything more than minor will be mentioned in the main body of the description. The engravings vary in size. There are no outer advertising pages/cover unless otherwise stated.

The above list describes the content in my words and not necessarily what is written on the original page. "Info." in the description is my research, although relevant to the accompanying image or article, is not necessarily in the text. PLEASE NOTE :- I cannot guarantee that the issue is complete 'as published' - but what I have described above IS present. As far as I can tell  there are no pages missing but if you are looking for something in particular in these pages PLEASE ASK. The process of the page numbering in The Illustrated London News issues are applied in a yearly sequence and therefore do not start at number 1.
