Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Wm. Gruyter' after 'Mari ten Kate'. Willem Gruyter jr. (1817-1880) was a Dutch painter and etcher river and marine views from Amsterdam. He was a pupil of H. Koekkoek. He taught his son J.W. Gruijter. Johan Mari Henri (Mari) ten Kate (1831-1910) was a Dutch painter of interiors with figures / children and hunting scenes from The Hague. He was a pupil of his brother H.F.C. ten Kate. He travelled widely.
