The Rocket Stove concept provides conditions for the perfect fire by using thermal mass pre-heating/drying of combustion air, a supply elbow to create air turbulence/mixing of fuel/air and a highly insulated combustion chamber which gets hot fast and ensures smoke from the pre-burn gets burnt in the secondary effect. Sometimes you can hear a 'rocket' sound, hence the name. The heavy duty, cast-iron hob of the Versa also absorbs heat which is re-radiated onto your pot for more heating power. Adding doors to a rocket stove allows multi-fuel use. For fuels which need less oxygen such as charcoal the upper insulated door remains closed, and air is supplied from the lower, air intake door which can be used to control the burn.
