This an extremely rare and scarce chart by John Murray, Lieut: R.N., born in Edinburgh in 1775, but was dead by 1807, place unknown. He was responsible for surveying the then uncharted waters of Southern Australia at the end of the eighteenth century, before returning to home waters along the South Coast of England. He was the first European to enter and chart Port Philip, South Australia. This chart is one of a series published in 1810, after his death, in 1807.


A rare and extremely attractive nautical map of the SOUTH COAST OF ENGLAND, issued in 1810, by the British Admiralty.


This chart shows details OF NEW SHOREHAM to SELSEA BILL.


Prominent land based features, such as churches, windmills, telegraphs, Etc., are shown.


Features both nautical and inland detail noting both topographical features and thousands of depth soundings (in fathoms). Important ports, Island and navigational points are carefully noted.
