Absolutely stunning hand sewn valance. Beautiful block printed fabric with fabulous picotage or "pinning" detail added by using wooden blocks with various size brass pins to create the subtle tan background details as well as some of the blue. Dating 1860-1870 time period.   Wonderful crisp cotton. Lined back.  Sewn entirely by hand.  Beautifully detailed with the flowing scalloped bottom and block printed border so lavishly used throughout!
Really so so very special!  Amazing to find in such good condition!
I have a second matching smaller valance listed separately.

Condition: Vey good for age and use. There are some small holes on very top edge from tacks. No notable staining on the front. Back is aged timeworn. See last photos.
Carefully hand washed.  But I did not risk damaging print by soaking to whiten back.

Approximate measurements:  95” wide with 41" drop on the sides and 23.5" in center 31.5" to side of center.

I do my best to accurately describe condition and point out major flaws, but condition is seldom perfect as one would expect from a 100 year old textile. Small marks and flaws should be expected. The timeworn look and signs of their unique history is part of what makes them so charming and special!
