Dall’unione di ingegno e design nasce questa lampada modello HEBI TAVOLO (Hebi è la parola giapponese per "serpente") ideata dal famoso designer Isao Hosoe per Valenti Luce nel 1974. Lampada, completamente orientabile, è composta da un diffusore, che ruota, in alluminio laccato nero esternamente e bianco internamente, una base in metallo con contrappeso interno e rivestita da gomma a coste, e da un tubo metallico flessibile e snodabile rivestito in PVC a coste che le consente di assumere le più svariate pose, forme e di direzionare la luce ovunque.
La prima lampada Hebi è quella con solo il tubo in PVC con paralume è stata progettata nel '69; questa in vendita invece, modello Hebi Tavolo (Hebi Table Lamp), è stata disegnata nel 1974. Questa lampada da tavolo è stata prodotta in diversi colori; le parti in gomma però sono sempre nere. Le prime edizioni hanno il nome stampato nella gomma. Le versioni successive hanno il nome stampato nella piastra inferiore in plastica. L'interruttore è integrato ed il pulsante è modellato nella gomma. Negli anni '80 fu prodotta anche una versione chiamata Hebi Alo. Ha una lampadina alogena da 12 volt, un paralume piatto e un trasformatore esterno.
La lampada è rappresentativa del design degli anni '70 per le sue caratteristiche ready-made ed ergonomiche: ricevette la Medaglia d'oro alla Lubiana Design Review del 1973 ed è in mostra permanente al Brooklyn Museum di New York, alla 20th Century Gallery, al Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra, al Centre Georges Pompidou di Parigi e alla Triennale di Milano.
Valenti nasce a Milano nel 1929 come azienda metalmeccanica. Divenne una delle aziende più importanti del movimento del design italiano sotto la guida dei fratelli Diego e Renzo Phigi. Tra i pezzi di maggior successo troviamo: lampade da tavolo Hebi, design Isao Hosoe nel 1969; Lampada da terra e da tavolo Medusa, design Olaf Von Bohr nel 1968; la lampada da parete/incasso Pistillo, design Studio Tetrarch nel 1969; e tante tante altre!

From the union of ingenuity and design comes this HEBI TAVOLO lamp (Hebi is the Japanese word for "snake") conceived by the famous designer Isao Hosoe for Valenti Luce in 1969. Fully adjustable lamp composed of a diffuser, that rotates, in aluminum lacquered black externally and white internally, a metal base with internal counterweight and covered with ribbed rubber, and a flexible and articulated metal tube covered in ribbed PVC that allows it to assume the more varied poses, shapes and to direct the light everywhere.
The first Hebi lamp, the one with only the PVC tube with lampshade, was designed in '69; this one on sale, the Hebi Tavolo (Hebi Table Lamp) model, was designed in 1974. This Isao Hosoe Valenti Hebi table lamp was also made in different colors. However, the rubber parts are always black. The first editions have the name printed in the rubber. Later versions have the name printed on the plastic bottom plate. The switch is integrated and the button is molded into the rubber. A version called Hebi Alo was also produced in the 1980s. It has a 12 volt halogen bulb, a flat lampshade and an external transformer.
The lamp is representative of the design of the 70s for its ready-made and ergonomic characteristics: it received the Gold Medal at the 1973 Ljubljana Design Review and is on permanent display at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, at the 20th Century Gallery, at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris and at the Milan Triennale.
Valenti Luce was born in Milan in 1929 as an engineering company. It became one of the most important companies of the Italian design movement under the leadership of the brothers Diego and Renzo Phigi. Among the most successful pieces we find: Hebi table lamps, designed by Isao Hosoe in 1969; Medusa floor and table lamp, design Olaf Von Bohr in 1968; the Pistillo wall / recessed lamp, designed by Studio Tetrarch in 1969; and many many others!
