This is a Carvin/Kiesel HB5 Narrow pickup - MusicMan style 5-string humbucker

Large diameter AlNiCo 5 magnets, 17.5mm pole piece spacing.

This pickup is can be used in the Bridge or neck positions with its narrow 17.5mm pole piece spacing.

This pickup would actually be an excellent, high-quality replacement for Sterling by MusicMan StingRay5 style basses.

Carvin has been offering this pickup for decades, and Kiesel still uses this pickup today.

I actually had this pickup in a dual-mm bass, this pickup in the neck position with an HB5 Wide pickup (also for sale) in the bridge position.

4-wire cable + shield

Note how beautiful the pole piece shielding is wrapped on the underside of the pickup; a stainless steel wire wrapped figure-8 around every pole piece. No other manufacturer does this, not Nordstrand, not Aguilar…this is a high-quality pickup for sure, Made in USA.

Very clear vintage voicing, brilliant top-end and good bass response.

I preferred to wire it in the Lakland-style; bridge coil/parallel/neck coil using a 3-position switch

This pickup was purchased directly from Kiesel in 2020

Comes with paperwork from Carvin with wiring instructions and routing size for custom installations.

Each coil measures 2.75k ohms.

In Parallel, the pickup measures 1.37k ohms

In Series, the pickup measures 5.5k ohms
