Luang Pu Khambu was born at Ban Kutchomphu on Monday, February 15, 1922, the 15th Monday of the waxing moon of the 3rd lunar month, year of the dog. He was born in the Kham Ngam family of his father and mother. The names are Mr. Sa and Mrs. Hom Khamngam, a farming and gardening family. His original name and surname were Khambu Khamngam. He was the youngest of 6 siblings. His parents ordained him in 1939 at Wat Kutchomphu with Phra Khru Yanwisutthikhun (Kong) of Wat Tak Pho.
