This scarce antique first edition is over 156 years old!

In nice condition overall! Original publisher cloth binding shows some wear, including rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, some discoloration to the spine, general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, chipping and loss to the spine extremes, and some rubbing and soiling to the page edges. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! Tight and square! Gilt title lettering to the spine displays nicely from the shelf.
Internally, this volume is in good shape as well. There is visible cracking to both the front and rear hinges, however both boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to the binding. This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the title page and copyright page. Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.
The text block of this volume is clean throughout. There is just typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and some general corner creasing, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout!
