ITEM DESCRIPTION

Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved volume on the American Civil War by John G. Nicolay!

A great find from a local New England estate!

This scarce antique first edition is over 143 years old!

1st US Edition.  Ex-library.

In great condition overall!  Original publisher cloth binding shows some wear, including a library sticker pasted to the front board, a library catalog sticker pasted to the spine, rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, general wear around the extremities including light bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some rubbing and soiling to the page edges.  Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume!  Tight and square!  Gilt title lettering to the spine displays nicely from the shelf.

Internally, this volume is in great shape as well.  Both boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to the binding.  This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the title page and copyright page.  Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.

The text block of this volume is very clean throughout.  There is just typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings.  Perfectly readable throughout!

Illustrated with several maps.  Make sure to see the photos above for complete details.

220 pages with additional publisher advertisements in back.

Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/4 inches wide.

A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
