MAT RUSH GRASS

(Lomandra hystrix)   

 A very hardy stylish perennial and non-invasive native ornamental landscaping plant.

 Flowers and seeds were dried and pound into a flour by indigenous people.

Beautiful bright green grass with strap like leaves and a clumping growth

 habit. Grows to 120cm tall and wide. Short white creamy green flowers during spring.

Good for contrast when combined with brighter coloured plants.

Fast growing and hardy perennial, ideal around water courses, banks, rockeries and

 suited also to containers in formal outdoor areas.  Used for bush regeneration, erosion

 control and soil stabilisation. 

Great for any planting situation and tolerates even marginal soils and

 grows well in full sun or complete shade.

Excellent companion plant as it has a very unique ability to remove toxins and heavy

 metals from soils, so is used to revegatate and revitalise polluted mine sites!

Low maintenance, suitable for poor soils and tolerant of harsh conditions, requires

 little care once established.

An excellent very low maintenance, companion and feature plant. 

 What will I receive?

You will receive 30 fresh seeds. Soak for 24 - 48 hours in warm water before planting to a depth of 3mm. Germination within 4 - 8 weeks. 

Native seeds often respond well to smoke treatment, which also acts as a natural

fungicide.

Smoke infused Vermiculite is a great potting media additive and is often

needed for germination of native seeds. Simply sprinkle the smoked vermiculite

media on top of your seed raising mix and then sow seeds as required.
