The 2 pages of illustrated letterhead from the Casey Hotel (Scranton Pa.)  features a handwritten breezy and perhaps suggestive note/letter from "Jags" to "Flossie".

Jags may have been a bit of a bounder in his day.

With his references to parties and  a euphemism - Hotel Lingerie- for the Hotel Longacre in NYC where Jags planned to stay, one wonders just what Jags and Flossie were getting up to.

And just what do : "Do you keep the pail brightly polished?" and "Don't shoot off too much" mean?

Full of New York isms  with "noivous" and  "Thoisday" for nervous and Thursday.

The addressee "Lettie Lefferts" resided at 133 West 145th St in the northern reaches of Harlem (Lettie short for Charlotte?).

The Lefferts name appears to be prominent in NYC.

One wonders whether "Flossie" was a pet name?

The history of Harlem seems to indicate that the West 145th Street northern Harlem area was in transition in the WW 1 late teens time period. The property is a stone's throw from the then recently constructed 145th St. bridge connecting the Manhattan Harlem neighborhood with the Bronx.

Jags' note is on Scranton's Hotel Casey illustrated letterhead and was sent in a Hotel illustrated envelope.

The letterhead is the smaller "hotel" sized paper.

Hotel Casey was opened  in 1910 shortly before this letter was sent.

It was demolished about 20 years ago.

This piece of vintage advertising is in not in pristine condition. Flossie saved it it but didn't store it carefully as she should have!

The letter and its glimpse into the early 20th Century life is a real bonus.
