The Approach is a miniature, film-based covert surveillance camera made in the USSR before 1992, at the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant (KMZ) and introduced into the needs of the KGB in 1989 as a successor to the F-21 Ajax and F-27 Neocyte cameras (factory index NF1101). This is most likely the last film camera for the special services.

The "Entry" was designed specifically for surveillance and unobtrusive
photographing. It is suitable for use in a wide range of concealments. Camouflage covers "attaché case", "trouser belt", "men's bag", etc. were developed for this camera, as well as the camera could easily be hidden inside a car or
furniture, fastened by a coat button or somewhere else on the body of an operative.
The men's bag is like camouflage for covert shooting.
The F-2.8/25 mm camera lens has an automatic exposure control function. There is a 14 mm threaded ring around the lens, which can be used to attach special lenses. On the side of the camera is a fixed cable, approximately 20 cm in length, with a 14-pin plug for connecting a wide range of remote devices. The camera uses 16 mm
non-perforated film, the frame size is 21 x 14.8 mm, slightly smaller than that of the F-21. The fixed focus of the lens allows you to shoot from a distance of 3-7 meters.

The camera size is 95x65x28 mm, about the same size as the F-27 Neocyte camera, and the control was completely electronic, using the same electronics as previously on the Neocyte. It has an electronic shutter, which consists of two groups, three
shutter lobes each, and supports speeds from 1/60 to 1/1000 s.

The camera is powered by 3V and 5V rechargeable batteries, which are located inside both remote control units. The batteries can be charged by connecting the supplied charging cable.
