Manuka honey is harvested from a plant found in New Zealand, Leptospermum scoparium. The white-flowered plant blooms in spring, attracting bees with its strong scent. Manuka honey is a 100% natural food whose effective antibacterial component has an active effect on the body.
Its consumption has a positive effect on digestive system complaints, wound treatment, winter protection of the body, oral care, and general well-being. Research carried out for the first time at the University of Dresden showed that a concentration of at least 100mg/kg of dietary methylglyoxal (the active ingredient in Manuka honey) is needed to induce the desired effects. This positive efficiency has not been demonstrated in any other material found on Earth in its natural state.
