Original Plate, Anti War Political Cartoon from Raemaekers The Great War 1916

This is a very good quality large Original Plate, a political satirical Anti-War cartoon, taken from breaking a book - Louis Raemaeker's 'The Great War'. This book was published in 1916 by The Fine Art Society. This is Plate 5, 'Von Bethmann-Hollweg and Truth', it is a tipped-in colour plate mounted on grey, thick, paper with a double black line around the plate. Plate size 32.5cm x 23.2cm, page size 46cm x 37cm. The page edge is hand cut and therefore rough. Louis Raemaeker was a Dutch artist and political cartoonist who himself witnessed the horrors of WW1 in neighbouring countries. His work played an important role in persuading America to join the war - Raemaeker's brilliant cartoons are said to have swayed destiny with a pencil ! Together with this original plate you will receive a reproduction of the original description page, as this is on the reverse of the preceding Plate 4 in the book. I will be listing more plates from this book in due course. Any questions please ask. This plate is in Very Good Original condition as is the page it is mounted on. Please see photos for condition.
