DESCRIPTION

Prontosan wound gel Instructions for cleaning, moisturizing and debridement of acute and chronic wounds, as well as 1st and 2nd degree burns - to remove health-threatening infectious agents from the wound surface. Chronic skin wounds are often covered with scab, necrotic tissue and/or biofilm. These coatings are difficult to remove and can slow wound healing. Therefore, proper wound cleaning is essential. Prontosan wound gel ensures long-term cleanliness, hydration and decontamination of the wound bed between dressing changes. Acute wounds need to be cleaned well because they are usually contaminated with dirt and microorganisms. These contaminants can interfere with normal wound healing and lead to complications such as infection. For acute traumatic wounds that require sutures, Prontosan Wound Gel should be used after surgery and sutures. Prontosan is a combination of unique ingredients (antimicrobial agent, polyhexanide, surfactant betaine) and is an ideal anti-biofilm agent.

 

Composition:
Purified Water, Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, 0.1% Betaine Surfactant, 0.1% Polyaminopropyl Biguanide (Polyhexanide). Appearance and Odor: Clear, colorless water-based gel with virtually no odor.


Use:
Tissue tolerance and biocompatibility: Dermatologically tested and determined as a non-irritating, well-tolerated, painless, non-suppressing granulation and epithelization agent.

Side effects: In very rare cases, a slight burning sensation may occur after using Prontosan®, but it usually disappears after a few minutes. Prontosan® can cause allergic reactions such as itching (hives) and rashes (exanthema). Anaphylactic shock has been reported in rare cases (less than 1 in 10,000). Contraindications: Prontosan® should not be used: a) if the patient is known to be allergic or suspected to be allergic to any of the product's components.b ) on the CNS or brain membranes.c) in the middle ear or inner ear.d) in the eyes.e) on hyaline cartilage and in aseptic joint surgery. If Prontosan® comes into contact with aseptic cartilage, it must be immediately irrigated with Ringer's solution or normal saline.f) together with anionic surfactants.g) together with washing soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes, etc.

These substances must be carefully removed from the wound before use. Restrictions on use: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There is no evidence of mutagenic or fetal toxicity associated with the ingredients of this product. As there is no systemic reabsorption of polyhexanide, transfer to breast milk is unlikely. Due to the lack of relevant clinical studies and clinical experience with pregnant and lactating women, in such cases Prontosan® wound gel should only be used after careful medical consultation. General safety instructions: For external use only. Do not use for infusions and injections! Do not swallow! Do not use damaged bottles. Do not store bottles in direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children. Summary/Technical Information: Prontosan® Wound Gel is a canned product and has a shelf life of 8 weeks after opening. After use, the vial must be closed immediately to prevent contamination. During use, the neck of the vial must be protected from contamination. Bottles that have been in direct contact with the wound or have been contaminated in some other way must be discarded.
