Chelsea Clock Co. Balance Staff for Direct Train Pre-1930 Escapements #51433A - NOS, unused.

This is a hard to find Balance Staff for several models with pre-1930 direct train (non-platform) escapements.  They are no longer available from the factory.

It fits on the Models D (Traveling Clock) E (Marine), F (Pilot House), K (Auto), the "Old Style" Model L (Ships Bell), M (House Strike) and N (Small Gothic) movements.

Shown on page 152 and also in a blow-up schematic on page 174 of Chelsea Clocks: A Technical Manual Part 1.  The General History of Chelsea Escapement development is listed on pages 151 and 152.

If you don't know or are just uncertain about your clock's movement, please feel free to send a question before risking a purchase. I welcome questions along with escapement photos when appropriate.  If you don't have either Chelsea Clocks: A Technical Manual or Chelsea Clock Company, The First 100 Years, it would be wise to send the serial number on the movement and a photo if you are attempting to identify it.  Likewise, Escapement Repairs are best left to professionally trained and experienced technicians as novices frequently tend to cause more (and expensive) damage to delicate parts. The phrase "if you break it, you bought it" applies here.

Limited supply.
