Assumed first edition.  An illustrated collection of historical anecdotes and stories about the area around Fremont county, Colorado covering the period of a century after the Civil War. Fremont county is located on the Rocky Mountain east slope and is just southwest of Colorado Springs. It was populated mostly in Canon City and various small mining towns. Ranching was the main method of commerce in the area, until gold was discovered there in 1891. Tom Mix made several silent films in Canon City (using local extras) during 1910 and 1911, just before Hollywood monopolized the film industry. In the back, it lists the membership of the Fremont Cattlemen's Association and their individual cattle brands.
