Photograph Notes: After lying empty for a number of years the old Bon Marche building [[498621]] is being transformed into a J D Wetherspoon pub and restaurant. The company had originally proposed calling it Y Gwneuthurwr Hwyliau (The Sailmaker). However the town council suggested that this was too much of a mouthful even for this Welshest of towns and proposed the alternative Pen Cob as being more manageable and reflecting the building's location at the heart of the Cob. Good news also for the man fixing the letters!
