About Type 5 Medium Tank [Chili]
In the Imperial Army, the Type 5 Medium Tank [Chili] was the last medium tank in the development order.
It had a long-barreled 75 mm gun with automatic loading system as its main gun and a 37 mm gun mounted on the front of the vehicle body as a secondary gun.
With a frontal armour thickness of 75 mm and a weight of 35 t, it was significantly scaled up compared to previous Imperial Army tanks and was developed to be the latest and most powerful tank of the purely Japanese type.
Only one prototype was built in March 1945, and there are documents describing running and firing tests conducted on it.
At the end of the war, it was confiscated by the occupying forces with the main gun removed.
