★YAMAHA L-53 Custom Acoustic Guitar 1981 + hard case★
<Product description>
The
L-53, made in 1981 and the highest grade Yamaha custom series at the time, has
arrived. This is a very premium Japan Vintage item that was produced and sold
only on made-to-order basis at a list price of 350,000 yen in 1982, 42 years
ago, when prices and monetary values are completely different from today.
This
is the first L series that was given the name "CUSTOM" along with
"L-51", "L-52", and "L-54", and among them,
"L-53", which uses a lot of abalone shellfish (Mexican abalone).
"CUSTOM" is very popular, and about 10 years ago in 2012, it was
reprinted as "L-53CUSTOM Reprint Model", completely limited to 20
pieces, at a manufacturer price of ¥1.995.000 (5% tax included), but it was
released in no time. It was sold out in no time.
Speaking
of Yamaha in the 1970s, the FG-180 is known for its looks, which have an
overwhelming presence both at the time and today. The L-53CUTOM is not only
powerful, but also made of Scots pine and Jacaranda (Brazilian rosewood). ),
the combination produces a unique bright, grainy, and sparkling sound. When it
was new, the bright sound with the hardness of the Jacaranda wood on the entire
surface was a striking impression, but perhaps because it has been used for 40
years, the mid-bass has a sense of volume, and the sound has a good boxy sound,
from the high to the high end. The impression is that it has a well-defined,
mature tone that is well-balanced down to the bass.
It
is said that the exact number of pieces produced is unknown, as they were
produced only by order for several years from 1975 to 1980.
The
top of the body is top quality Ezo pine, the back and sides are made of high
quality Jacaranda, the back is 3 pieces, the neck is made of mahogany, the
fingerboard is made of ebony, and the bridge is made of ebony. The inner label
has the handwritten signature of Terry Nakamoto, the current director of
Terry's Company. The head top, position mark, sound hole rosette, and body
purfling are all eye-catching with inlay work that uses plenty of abalone
shellfish. I think the gorgeous inlay work took more effort than the Martin
D-45 at the time.
It
is not in collector's condition, but is an instrument that has been used
properly for practical purposes, so there are many scratches and small
scratches throughout that are appropriate for the model year, and there is a
feeling of use that is appropriate for the model year, but there are no major
noticeable scratches or damage. It is in very good condition considering the
model year. There are hairline crack adhesive marks along the wood grain in the
center of the top of the body, behind the bridge. After receiving the product
at our store, we took the time to adjust the humidification, glue it together,
and patch the back board. I don't think there is anything to worry about in the
future.
The
pegs are the original TM-30Gs from that time, and although the gold plating
parts are faded and rusty, they can be tuned without stress. A strap pin has
been added to the neck heel cap. There are rice grain-sized scratches and
scratches on the side and back of the body due to use, and there are also minor
paint marks near the bottom of the back due to the strap. The back of the neck
also has some scratches from the capo and stand. There is no wear and tear on
the fingerboard surface, and the fret height is sufficient.
The
adjustment is perfect, with string heights above the 12th fret, 6th string:
2.6mm, 1st string: 1.8mm, and the saddle height is generous. I think the action
is low enough to provide good playability without spoiling the original sound
of the instrument.
The
slightly hard, crisp, and dry Jacaranda body, which is typical of Yamaha
guitars of the past, produces a powerful, voluminous sound with good response
and a clear tone, and the sound is even better when heard from the front than
from the person playing it.
Many
famous folk musicians used it on recordings and on stage, and it was a high-end
instrument that cost many times the starting salary of a working adult at the
time, so it was a high-end instrument. Even now, it is a premium model that is
difficult to obtain and valuable, so it commands a high price on the market.
Comes with original hard case.
It's
cheaper than the market price, so this may be your last chance to get it at
this price. Recommended for those looking for it.
