MEIJI PERIOD

JAPANESE

FOUR PANELLED

CERAMIC VASE

PEONIES

Raised on a square foot this four sided vase sports panelled decoration with what appear to the be peonies or hydrangeas, given the country of origin we feel that the former is most likely. Two square form handles complete the piece.

In good decorative order but the piece does LEAK from what appears to be a firing crack to one ‘edge’ and stable, (internal only), surface cracks to two other corners. There are a some rubs and several ‘misses’ from the raised decoration but the latter are not immediately obvious and so fail to detract from the wonderful aesthetics of the vase.

Displays beautifully.
