A gorgeous boxed set of antique Victorian sterling silver flatware by Wakley & Wheeler, dated 1899. Set includes (6) teaspoons and (1) pair of sugar tongs, all with twisted garland and classical figure topped handles. Spoons measure approx. 4.75"l, tongs approx. 4.5"l. Total weight approx. 119g (4.1oz). In good antique condition, just displaying vermeil fading and tarnish consistent with age/use, but the box is worn with cracks, heavy exterior rubbing/loss, and interior discoloration - see pictures. All stamped with Wakely & Wheeler (1890-1908) hallmarks, as well as British sterling lion passant, London leopard head, and letter "d" (1899) date marks.
