Kenneth Jay Lane 3-Row Barbara Bush White Pearl Necklace & Flower Earrings Set

Description

My favorite first lady... Barbara Bush, RIP. She was a grand and gracious woman and I adored her spunky style and no-nonsense nature. It seems appropriate that my favorite jeweler and she were members of the "Mutual Admiration Society", and that she became known for her signature pearl necklace designed by Kenneth Jay Lane. This simulated pearl necklace is the identical style that Mrs. Bush wore, and was rarely seen without. She once sent Kenneth Jay Lane a handwritten note, telling him that people were disappointed when she didn't wear them.

This necklace contains weighty alabaster glass pearls that are approx 10mm in size and done in a creamy white color. There are three beautiful strands, all which nest perfectly within each other, the shortest measuring approx 17". Each strand is separately connected to an elegant, signature Kenneth Jay Lane status clasp. The total weight of this piece is astounding, and the quality of these luscious pearls... well, it's unmistakable.

Kenneth Lane is known for his fine, natural looking pearls, and it's no wonder why Mrs. Bush chose his to wear nearly every day (rumor has it that she paid $160 for hers) and wore it in order to mask the wrinkles in her neck -- (her statement, not mine).

This necklace is a book piece, and can be found in "Fabulous" by Nancy Schiffer 20. Photo above is a scan from the book. Several other photos included... one of Mrs. Bush with Kenneth Jay Lane, one of Mrs. Bush wearing her pearls alongside her inaugural gown at the Smithsonian where it is on display. The last photo is President and Mrs. Bush at the Republican National Convention in 2008. Mrs. Bush wearing her pearls again.

This is brand new, has never been worn, and comes from the Kenneth Jay Lane Couture Collection. You will adore this beautiful, iconic necklace and reach for it often. Gift boxed.
