Location and Access

The claims are located in El Dorado County in the Grizzly Flat Mining District and along the Eastern Motherlode Gold Belt. The claims are just 20 miles from where gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill in 1848 which ignited the California Gold Rush.

There used to be a road that went right to the claims but the USFS has closed it to vehicles so you have to hike in at the moment. It might be possible to get the okay as claim owner to bring in a vehicle but I haven't checked. This is the reason I'm offering the claims at a very low price right now.

Elevation is about 3500 feet.

The name of the claims are Baltic Gold North and Baltic Gold South.

The coordinates are: Baltic Gold North: N boundary 38.703288 -120.534636 S boundary: 38.699704 -120.536953

Baltic Gold South: N boundary: 38.699704 -120.536953 S boundary: 38.697293 -120.536481

There are plenty of other recreational opportunities around such as hiking and fishing on nearby Jenkinson Lake and others in the area.

History

El Dorado County is the site of James Marshall’s initial gold discovery at Sutter’s Mill. Since then untold millions of dollars worth of gold has been recovered from its creeks and hardrock deposits. Yet there is a lot left too. Grizzly Flat was established in 1850 and named when a bear surprised a group of miners. The creeks, ancient river channels on the hillsides, and quartz veins proved extremely rich. Mines such as the Blue Gouge, just a half mile from this claim, and the Hazel Creek produced millions in gold. Mining continued on a small scale during the Great Depression and the Hazel Creek Mine operated until 1958.

Geology and Gold

Gold quartz veins and tertiary river channels are common sources of gold in the district which has enriched the modern creeks. Camp Creek courses through many major gold bearing areas. It is located in El Dorado County, the site of the discovery that sparked the California Gold Rush. This claim is a rare spot near the mouth of the creek and so has been enriched over millennia by all the deposits upstream. It is accessible nearly year round with just a few short periods of snowfall. This claim is a beautiful, secluded spot, very rich in gold, and with enough material keep anyone busy for generations. This claim will make great asset as gold rises and quality claims like this become rarer and rarer.
